From our start in 2008 to our sustainability work and partnerships, this is where you will find the story behind Maxomorra. Welcome to our colourful world!

Our Story

Maxomorra began in 2008 in Älmhult, southern Sweden, founded by Johan Ström with a simple idea. Children’s clothing should be fun, colorful, and made with care for both little ones and the planet.

Inspired by everyday adventures and classic Swedish values, we design bold, playful prints that spark imagination. From busy ladybugs to bright rainbows, every print is created to bring joy. All our styles are made from GOTS certified organic cotton, gentle on children’s skin and kinder to the world around them.

We are proud to be the first Swedish brand to receive GOTS certification, a standard we have maintained since 2012. For more than a decade, we have worked closely with our trusted production partner in India, growing together while ensuring responsible and ethical manufacturing.

In 2020, Maxomorra moved to Gothenburg, where our colorful journey continues. Today, we create joyful, sustainable clothing for children aged 0 to 10, designed for play, comfort, and everyday magic.

Our Factory

Maxomorra has been working with CMV Global Clothing since 2009. Just one year after we started our journey, Mr. Prakash opened his own factory in India. From the very beginning, we chose to grow side by side and build something long-term together.

What started as a shared vision has become a trusted partnership built on transparency, responsibility, and mutual respect. Over the years, we have developed not only collections, but also a strong collaboration focused on quality, fair working conditions, and sustainable production.

Growing together has allowed us to maintain the high standards we believe in, while continuously improving and learning along the way.

Sustainability

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. It is the world’s leading certification for organic textiles and sets strict requirements for both environmental care and social responsibility. From the cotton field to the finished garment, every step must meet high standards. Harmful chemicals are not allowed, working conditions must be fair, and production must respect both people and planet.

Maxomorra has been GOTS certified since 2012, but our commitment began even earlier. Since our start in 2008, we have chosen to work only with GOTS certified organic cotton. We were the first GOTS certified brand in the Nordic countries, and we are proud to continue leading with responsibility and transparency.

All of our suppliers and their sub suppliers are GOTS certified. This ensures traceability throughout the entire supply chain and guarantees safe, skin friendly clothing for children.

When you choose Maxomorra, you choose more than colorful prints and playful design. You choose clothing made with care, respect, and a long term commitment to doing things the right way.

Fabrics

We use only GOTS certified organic cotton, grown without harmful chemicals and with care for both people and planet. It is gentle on children’s sensitive skin and safer for the workers who produce it.

Our bright colours and playful prints are created using safe, high quality dyes designed to stay vibrant wash after wash. Comfort is just as important as colour. Most of our styles are made from soft organic jersey, perfect for everyday play. For cooler days, we offer cozy sweat and velour qualities that feel warm and comfortable without compromising breathability.

Our organic denim range brings durability and timeless style, made the same responsible way as the rest of our collection.

At Maxomorra, fabric is not just about how it feels. It is about how it is made and the care behind every thread.

Sizes

To find the right size, we recommend choosing based on your child’s height. For example, size 110 to 116 is designed for children who measure between 110 and 116 cm tall.

If your child is between two sizes, choose the one closest to their current height. Age can be a helpful guide, but measuring your child will always give the most accurate result.

Please note that all measurements in our size chart refer to body measurements, not the dimensions of the garment.

Charity

Supporting communities is a natural part of how we work. Through close collaboration with our production partner in India, we contribute to initiatives that support children and families in communities near our factory. By working locally and long term, we aim to make a positive and lasting impact where our garments are made.

In Sweden, we partner with charitable organisations that help ensure clothing reaches those who need it most. By donating surplus stock, returns, and selected unsold items, we extend the life of our products and support families facing economic challenges.

These collaborations are rooted in social responsibility, circular thinking, and inclusion. By combining care for people with smarter use of resources, we strive to contribute beyond clothing and create value both locally and globally.

At Maxomorra, responsibility does not stop at production. It continues in the communities we are part of and the partnerships we build along the way.

Wash Care

To ensure the longevity of your Maxomorra garments and minimize environmental impact, please follow these GOTS-aligned guidelines:

1. Wash at Low Temperatures: Wash at a maximum of 30°C (86°F) unless otherwise stated on the care label. Lower temperatures reduce energy consumption and are gentler on the fabric.

2. Use Eco-Friendly Detergent: Opt for biodegradable, fragrance-free, and phosphate-free detergents. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that can harm the environment and your garment's integrity.

3. Reduce Water Use: Wash only full loads to maximize water efficiency, or select the eco or short-cycle setting on your washing machine.

4. Avoid Tumble Drying: Air dry your garments whenever possible. Tumble drying consumes significant energy and may cause unnecessary wear on fabrics. If using a dryer, select a low-heat setting.

5. Minimize Washing: Spot clean minor stains and air out garments to extend the time between washes. This reduces energy and water usage while preserving the quality of your clothing.

6. Iron with Care: If ironing is necessary, use a low-heat setting and avoid excessive heat to protect organic fibers.

7. Recycling and Upcycling: Once garments are no longer wearable, recycle or repurpose them responsibly to reduce textile waste.
